Manjani or Mandiani is originally from Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, and Cote d'Ivoire. It was performed by young girls to celebrate the motherhood of all the women in the village. A West African dance, Mandiani today celebrates an important event such as the harvest, a wedding, or a naming ceremony.
